European Volunteer Service in Sevilla Acoge Foundation

Our SVE, your SVE

Since 2005, the foundation offers the opportunity for volunteers between seventeenth and thirty years old to enrol themselves into the project SVE for a ten-months period. The Foundation provides the volunteers with accommodation, subsistence allowances, insurance and cash. We also guarantee a Spanish language-learning course. As a volunteer, you can develop your work in different fields; e.g. progress cooperation, social work (social equality and insertion cases), childcare and youth support, or culture promotion. We can admit five volunteers for the project who can develop their work in three different centres, Sevilla Acoge head offices and Cepaim centre located in Cristo de la Expiración’s bridge and the community centre Macarena. These three centres are the locations where people take the first steps. The foundation works with co-development or co-improvement projects.

The SVE volunteers can contribute to several areas:

– First assistance support for people at their reception

– To help spreading news and information

– To support co-development projects

– To help in some administrative assistance

– To participate in course and workshops organized by Sevilla Acoge (e.g.: self-guidance and self-orientation training activities, labour integration and labour orientation programmes, legal advice, promote social integration). To develop one’s own courses and activities like languages lessons (e.g.: English, French or German).

Centro de Acción Comunitaria

The community work centre ‘Macarena’ (Centro de Acción Comunitaria) focuses on children and young persons who are at-risk minors. In Macarena neighbourhood, the actions are targeted to those minors as well as their family and relatives.

Some activities that the SVE volunteers can develop in Macarena centre:

– Formal education area: to support tutorial activities likewise school and institute advisors, to increase awareness on the voluntarism in general and also to sensitize people to SVE programme.

-Non-formal education area: to make workshops (preparation, development and assessment) for children and young persons involving/binding individuals who promote multiculturalism, to make aware people of the social and cultural diversity within their neighbourhood. To organize and carry out physical or sport activities, to promote healthy lifestyles, to carry out cultural excursions or leisure activities, to participate in some children summer-camping, etc.
